Hi, Everyone!

Some questions, please:

1. After upgrading to 5.0, I noticed that Forums>Integration>Storage Locations reported my Custom Icons Folder was missing ("wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/custom") and I had to attend to this...so I simply created the directories.  Is this all right?  And what was that all about, anyway??  confused

2. While creating that file path, I also noticed that there was a bunch of other Simple Press files, probably "legacy" files from Version 4.5 or so...are they necessary?  Everything really looks so cluttered -- I'd imagine things to be just within a plugin folder, not scattered throughout wp-content/forum-file-uploads, wp-content/forum-image-uploads, wp-content/forum-media-uploads, wp-content/forum-smileys, wp-content/sp-resources, wp-content/plugins/simple-press, wp/content/plugins/simple-forum...or is it something I'm not doing here that I should be??  embarassed

Thanks!!

#1 yup, just fine. that is the one location we couldnt find a good way to do automatically because of where folks could locate it, etc...  if you do not use custom icons, then dont even worry about it...  but if moving it there is a new standard lcoation that I would use... see #2

#2 yes, unfortunately when we started simple press we only had avatars so we stuck it in wp-content...  and over time more and more was added and it did indeed get messy...

when you upgraded, you were asked if you wanted to consolidate all those into a single new area...  any new install will create a wp-content/sp-resources directory for forum 'stuff'. any needed stuff will be created in there... you should already see that directory...

feel free to move anything you want into there...  however, please note that if you move uploads (images, media and files), old posts wont point to the right location anymore for those...if you do not have any uploads, it would be safe to relocate...

so we are trying to clean up, but a limit to what we can do without breaking things...

the upgrade instructions told you to remove the plugins/simple-forum directory and contents... if you did not do that, please do so...

Just curious...what if I left everything as-is right now?  Will my forums or site break at some point down the road?

I'd like to not fiddle with FTP or any file management if possible, beyond what little I've already done to create that one file path (just so I don't have that ugly "red alert" in Integration>Storage Locations!).  Would it be advisable if I just left everything alone now?

Thanks again!

yes, you can leave everything as is...  really your preference where you want to locate them...  it will keep working in future...
