I haven’t installed any SP plugins.

I don’t know how to run an SQL script, so to save time and trouble just went in and removed all the duplicates.  In 41 cases there were about 25 of each.  In one case there was only one – “view_own_admin_posts” and its ID number suggests it was added almost at the end.

Following that you would then need to perform the ‘rest’ of all auths, rebuild those relationships in your forums and clear out the auth caches but that comes afterwards.

I don’t know what the above means or how to do it.  Please give me specific instructions.

First up there is on important thing to check in that table. There is a column called ‘admin_negate’. There are only 2 rows that should have this set to a 1 and they are ‘view_own_admin_posts’ and ‘reply_own_topics’. Please ensure that is set correctly.

Then go to the admin > Forums > reset permissions and perform the reset.
Then go to the admin > Toolbox > housekeeping and click on ‘reset the auths cache’.

Then back to forums to set up the user group/permission set assignments.

My fingers are well and truly crossed!

view_own_admin_posts is there and set correctly.

“reply_own_topics” is not there. “reply_topics” is there and it is not set.

‘reply_own_topics’ was a new one in the last update to 5.1.3. If you are on 5,.2.3 are you sure you didn’t delete it in error?

I’m stuck at 5.1.2.  Trying to upgrade is what got this whole thing started.  I’m positive I didn’t delete it.

Thats Ok then. It didn’t exist in 5.1.2

Getting closer.  The one that I’ve tested seems to be working ok.  Normal members can see it.  However, in taking the final step below

Then back to forums to set up the user group/permission set assignments.

some of the forums have just disappeared after setting up the permissions.  Also, I have warnings showing on the admin page like this:  Warning – There are no usergroups with members that have permissions on forum: FARA Editors Forum This forum may only be visible to SP admins but there are usergroups with members that have permissions for all but one of the “Warnings”

My only suggestion is that you set it up and then let one of us look at your settings.

As far as I am concerned, it is all set up.  I sent you admin creds about a week ago via PM.  If you need them again, let me know please.  I appreciate your help.

Sorry – have been away for most of the day.
Afraid I do not now have them. PMs with credentials in are always deleted after the particular problem they were provided for has been dealt with.
