what is the state of your system at the moment? Is it running or stuck with the upgrade required message?
We can you up and working easily and return to the upgrade issue later at leisure...

Excellent.
You need the table 'sfoptions'. This is NOT the wp options table please note.
Find the row with the option name of 'sfversion' and change the option value to 5.1.4
Find the row with the option name of 'sfbuild' and change the option value to 9150
This should get you going and we can review the part of the script that caused the timeout later. But you will be safe to use the forums etc.
Please do let me know the outcome.

The forum is quite new so they are now 663 posts exactly.

then this was not caused by the link fix timing out and might show up a conflict in your admin scripts with maybe another plugin.
that's fine as long as everything is working OK but I would recommend before you update SP again next time you do make a database backup in case there is such a problem lurking. These sort of conflicts are usually very easy to sort out.
