Exactly same issue here while upgrading from 5.1.3. Message is just (and progress bar is stuck in beginning):

Upgrade is in progress - please wait
Upgrade Aborted

 9068
success

Please copy the details below and include them on any support forum question you may have:

 9068 - success

ps. we had same kind of issues during upgrade from 4.5 -> 5 series (this was discussed in another thread: https://simple-press.com/suppo.....e-aborted/). In the end this was solved by upgrading the database table structure by hand with a custom SQL script and then running the upgrade through the GUI.

Any ideas?

Got a bit further after disabling SB Welcome Email editor plugin which was enabled on first attempt. Now the progress bar went about halfway and I got this (without your edit suggestion):

Upgrade Aborted
9068
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /var/www/example.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-site-support-functions.php on line 136 9086
success

After that, I made the edit you suggested. The result was the same as above..

I think something else actually happened here that meant the version/build numbers were not updated. This can happen - although rare - if the upgrade is aborted due to some sort of code conflict - often script based.

To get you back up and working can you follow the simple procedure in post 6 of this thread. That should get your forum back up and you wont have really missed anything vital. But - when it comes time to upgrade again I would advise a database backup before you start in case there is some sort of script conflict in play.

Ok, did those and now it seems to be 5.1.4. This was just a test server, production is still on 5.1.3, need to decide what do to with it..

How many posts do you have in the forum? If a lot then I would leave that section we removed out of the update as this can be a timeout issue we now know - on big pools of posts.
If the problem was caused by a script conflict then yes - just need to be careful. But if you have to modify the version and build numbers as you have done here I assure you there is no serious harm. The last section in the update is just a minor clean up that will have no negative effect if not performed.

I'm getting this same error, after having moved my site to new hosting, where unfortunately i no longer have direct access to the database.

Excellent.

You need the table 'sfoptions'. This is NOT the wp options table please note.

Find the row with the option name of 'sfversion' and change the option value to 5.1.4
Find the row with the option name of 'sfbuild' and change the option value to 9150

This should get you going and we can review the part of the script that caused the timeout later. But you will be safe to use the forums etc.

Please do let me know the outcome.

I sent these instructions to my host, who responded that there is no sfoptions table.

What script should we run to create these tables? Just sp-upgrade.php?

Thanks for the help---my forums are stuck in maintenance mode!

Not sure what to say here. If you have been running SP you must have an sfoptions table. SP cannot exist without it. Would be wp_sfoptions with wp_ being different on your install.

But I really doubt this ticket is related to yours. And if a host did not give me db access I would be gone super, super fast. That is just crazy.

But we need to figure out why your server generated an error Have you checked the server error log for any more info? How many sp posts do you have?

Using firebox with firebug or your browser of choice with its dev tool, when you click on upgrade, are any errors shown in the console?
