I'm an admin on my own sites, of course.

We upgraded to Version 5.3 today.

When I go to view my forums, I get this message: The requested group does not exist or you do not have permission to view it.

I went to Users > Member Information. I see myself as an Admin.

How can I resolve this issue?
I appreciate the help.

upgraded from what version?  if from many versions ago, might be a rare bug...

might try going to forum - integration - page and permalink and try a permalink update, but doubt it will help based on your message (its not a 404)...

perhaps go to forum - toolbox - housekeeping and try resetting the auths cache...

a link might be useful too...

Upgraded from Version 4.4.5.

I tried Toolbox –> Housekeeping -> Reset  auths cache

I am still getting the same message.

Other suggestions?

Thank you.

oh wow... so a really old version.... so yeah, sounds like the rare bug I alluded too... and one we have not been able to replicate, duplicate or solve...  affected a couple dozen upgrades (out of tens of thousands)...

you probably need to go to forum - permissions - reset permissions and perform a permissions reset... after that, you will need to set up any custom permissions  you had set up...

Excellent news. We apologise for the inconvenience. As Steve said it effected a small number of users and we have never been able to trace it. We were even given pre-upgrade backup databases by a couple of users who had had the problem so we could try the upgrade ourselves using their data and we still could not get it to fail!

Well, there's another issue.

I've added a member to the site.

The username shows up under Forum > Users.
Membership: Members

However, the user, after verifying the confirmation link in email and logging in, went to the forum and had a profile page with tabs including one for Permissions. She clicked: Access Denied.

I went to User Groups > Manage User Groups > Show Members
The user is there. However, so is a user who has been removed and does not show up in Forum > Users. This removed name also shows up at the bottom of the page in member posts, etc.

I verified at Forums > Manage User Groups that MEMBERS have Standard Access.
So I don't know why the new user has Access Denied.

OR

Why the removed member shows up in Groups > Manage User Groups > Show Members

Please help?

Thank you.

Can we take each case individually. Let's talk about the deleted user first. Two initial questions. Was this user deleted before or after the upgrade to V5.3? And - how was the user deleted?

Ok - but how was the deletion carried out?
