I just did an auto-update of Simple-Press on a multisite to 5.3.4 from 5.3.1. (Not sure why it didn't load the latest 5.4 version... The WP plugins listing does not give me the option to auto-update to 5.4)
Anyway, everything works fine in Win8 Pro with Firefox and Chrome, but in IE 10 (v. 10.0.9200.16721) any link that has a description that pops up on mouseover will not respond to a left-click. (Ones without these descriptions work fine.) I can right-click and "Open", but cannot get anything from a left-click. In FF and CH there is one message on mouseover in a rounded grey background with white text. In IE 10 there are two that come up. The grey one comes first, followed quickly by a white box with black border and black text. The text message is the same in both. (see screenshot). When I hit any key (even Shift, etc.), the white box disappears, but the grey one stays.
I tried the same version of IE 10 in Windows 7 and it works fine. Seems to be an issue only with Win8.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any quick fix?
we dont have any other reports of such behavior... and we do have some other win 8 users... We only have Win 7 and IE 10 to test with and as you mention that works fine... based on your image, it seems like its doing the standard title box plus the vtip... a js script takes care of the replacement normally... odd that it would be os specific and not browser...
the quick fix would be turn off the vtip but there is not a global way to turn them off... they are arguments to each of the display template functions in the sp theme template files...
guess I would try turning them off on one and see if it works...

Followup to this issue. I have another install that is still on v 5.3. It used to work with IE 10 in Win 8 Pro, but now does not. I just did some Windows updates, so it looks like a recent windows update for Win 8 has broken this, not the update to SP 5.3.4, which just coincidentally happened at the same time. Everything works fine in FF and Chrome on all OSes.
However, when I go to this site (your support forum) in Win 8 with IE 10, I can use it no problem. Are you using 5.4 on this one? Which theme? Would it help to manually upgrade to 5.4 since the auto-update isn't available yet for it?
of course we run the latest... actually, we are running the development version of 5.3.5 here...
I am not sure why you wouldnt be offered 5.3.4 via auto update - its available and we have many thousands of updates via the wp updater to it...
as to theme, we are using our own custom sp theme, but its for all practical purposes the default theme... just tweaked colors template functions...
