Sure thing sharpbettingtalk.com is the site.
The CSS files were deleted, completely missing after we did the upgrade. We just did a complete restore to before the we did the update and everything is fine now, but obviously we want to upgrade again as we are now back to 5.6.7. The theme we are running in the forum is the Default 1.2.21 with the fools gold overlay.
that is not really possible... unless you changed the storage location of your sp themes to be under the simple press plugins folder (bad idea of course)... and to be clear, wp does the updating (removal of current plugin and uploading of new)...
so you are saying that the wp-content/sp-resources/forum-themes and its folders were all gone after the upgrade? or do you have them stored elsewhere? you can see on forum - integration - storage locations...

This is from our developer.
It seemed to me that the settings had been changed some how after the upgrade. The files were still there but I don't know what the settings were to get the CSS back to the way it was.
The big question is why did the settings change after you applied the upgrade. The theme didn't change because you only have the default theme installed. If the theme didn't change, what did? Because the forum obviously was not displaying properly.
Like @mr-papa asked above however, what files were actually wiped out?
If, for example, you are using the CSS compress and cache option then that file is supposed to be wiped during an upgrade but should get rebuilt when the forum is run again for the first time. It would be useful to know what was removed ( and thus what you replaced) as different answers can involve different code and different conditions.

thanks for clarifying - didnt make sense they were removed... generally the settings are not changed... they were not here, at least from 5.6.7 to 5.7...
I suspect settings werent changed but was something else... you can also 'set' the theme on forum - themes - available themes..
its possible something on server changed (permissions or other)... the default theme uses php and occasionally we run into cases where the server no longer allows serving php files as css... but would have to see it on site to be sure... might be worht seeing what a css only type theme (no php) did...
also, if using combined css cache, could try clearing it on forum - toolbox - housekeeping...
to troubleshoot it not displaying right, we really need to see it in this state (which of course is less desirable for you)....
not sure what you meant by 'you only have the default theme installed'? we dont even deliver the default theme anymore (its still updated) but now deliver a more modern, up to date barebones theme...

in order to debug, you really do... we have to be able to see it... initially, we wont need access (except to front end of site)... that would come later if needed...
