Hi guys,

I have been using Simple Press for about a year now I just decided yesterday that I wanted to start using the plugins so I upgraded to version 5.2.6 according to the instructions provided in this website. I did it and now when I try to access my forum I don't see any groups or posts and am greeted with this message,

"The requested group does not exist or you do not have permission to view it"

Please help, how can I get my forum posts and groups visibile again?

best regards,

Bangkokhooker

hmmm...  might have joined the handful of folks who lost some permissions while upgrading...

can you look in your db and see how many rows you have in the sfauths table...

and can I assume that you have not installed any sp plugins yet?  please dont until this is resolved...  no worries if you already did.. ;)

I tried installing the profile plug in but haven't activated it.

I'm not sure I follow on how to check my sfauths table or db. Is this supposed to be found in my cpanel?

I just checked in my Cpanel and found it. I believe I've found it (haha). The file I looked at is "wp_sfauth" and there is only one row.

The auth_name: "create_links"

does that help?

As Steve said above we have had a small number of users for whom upgrading from a V4 to V5 system has scrambled their permissions - and so far have been unable to trace the issue. Not helped, of course, by the fact that it is random and only happens to a few. We are sorry about this and would love to be able to fix it!

Now - the solution depends a little on the complexity of your data. If you have a fairly straightforward forum setup without complex combinations of user groups and permission sets then I would suggest you go to the forum admin > Permissions and use the Reset Permissions tool. But this does mean you will then have to visit the Manage Forums panel and re-apply the User Group/Permission relationships. Not usually a difficult or long task for a straightforward set-up. Just annoying I guess. But it is the simplest and quickest if possible.

As always - I would suggest making a backup before you go for it though. And if you feel your set-up is too complex for this come back and we can rethink.

Thank you Swordfish,

thanks guys! The forum is accessible again! Now I have another problem the image and file uploader plug-in is not working for me. It is only allowing me to click on "add files" but when I want to click on "upload" or "start" nothing happens.

Hey guys, so I am having a problem with the image uploader because I am using Pagelines. I've tried the solutions provided in the forum but just can't seem to get anything to work. Is there any possibility that I can just pay you guys to fix it some how? I'm just a terrible coder and have no idea where to start.
