I downloaded SP5 beta but can't find any guidelines how to update from 4.5 to 5 beta. Can someone tell me how to run the update?

Sorry, just found out that this is the default theme for 5 beta. Excellent work!

thanks!

there are several topics in the beta forum on this but since our docs are not updated yet, can run through it again...

first, you must have wp 3.3

make a db backup just to be safe

remove the simple-forum directory - take care to save any custom icons

upload the new simple-press directory and contents to plugins folder

activate the plugin (name changed so you will have to activate again)

run the sp plugin upgrade

all set...

Looks VERY good.

But can't load Tinymce

and can't see any option to set the base font size like in the earlier version. Would like to increase the font size a bit but can't see the option.

let's take one thing at a time.
TinyMCE is now a plugin so did you also download any of the SP plugins and upload them to the new forum-plugins folder? Once uploaded you will also need to activate whatever ones you want.

Yes, I uploaded and activated and made it the default editor but it shows some conflict. Doesn't load and now the emoticons also don't work after enabling tinymce. 🙁

I was able to resolve these issues. They were being caused by JS compression.

Thank you for the wonderful forum software and very helpful team here.

Good to know. It's a personal view but in my opinion compression tools that work on the scripts being loaded are a waste of space and time. Most of the scripts that WP uses are compressed anyway and when SP comes out of beta all SP scripts capable of being compressed will be.
