Support Forum
Hey there,
I was wondering if I could change the url structure for the forum, NON SEO FRIENDLY.
I now have: mydomain.com/forum/group/topicname
Is there a way to change it similar to: mydomain.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16336
I already have set my permalinks to default: ?p=123, but this only works for WP pages and posts.
Thx,
What on earth is 'SEO friendly' about '/forum/showthread.php?t=16336' ? That is about as unhelpful as you can get! The answer is no to that particular construct...
IF you want a structure such as '/fourm-name/12345' then we can do that for you with the use of our 'Topic ID Permalink'.

As Andy said, download the topic id permalink plugin from our downloads page to get the structure he mentioned...

Ok, paid for the membership to get the plugin.
Downloaded it..and installed it.
But the structure is still the same.
Where on earth did you hide the setting to change it the way I want?
I changed my WP permalinks to /%postname%/, but that did not gave me the result I am looking for.

Sorry... were you not a member already? Are you saying you were able to post to this forum without membership?
Downloaded it..and installed it.

Did you also activate it? It is only going to effect new topics. You would need to alter the slug of older topics.

There is no setting. You are confusing WordPress posts - which are the target for their permalink setting - and WordPress pages which are not. Simple:Press uses a page object for its display.

To get the plugin I had to pay.

Sure thing I activated the plugin. Ok for the older topics.

Clear.
so all good now? with the plugin you will end up with http://yourdomain.com/page_id=.....-name/7777
where xxxx is the wp page id and where 7777 will be the topic id... sorry, that is as close as we can come to ugly permalinks...
