I have found the way to order the topics and individual posts newest post first in the simplepress admin forum options area. But now, one person wants it newest first, others want oldest first... is there a plugin that adds a sort to the post date that a logged in user can choose themselves? It could be as an additional choice in the profile or a sort arrow right in the forum page... this may be a lot to ask. I tried searching for a similar request but your search algorithms are not very selective and I cannot find anything similar.

More likely it is a question that comes up extremely rarely.
At the moment we can't help you at a user level but there is a ticket open - at the moment open against 5.3.1 which will be the next update although I can't promise anything - to achieve exactly this requirement.

No, currently sort order is forum wide... We do have an open ticket that we plan to incorporate into 5.3.1 that will allow user specifying of order...

That sounds great, I encourage you to add whatever is needed to allow the user to specify post order.

when its incorporated, they will be able to specify topic order and post order... per user... as said, right now, its on the list for 5.3.1 and something we want to do... but the list does change from time to time depending on development issues an so forth... would hazard this one is high likelihood...
