Support Forum
Whenever a moderator or member tries to insert a link (bbCode editor) into a post they get the "Unable to save - You are not allowed to put links in post content". They were allowed to before the upgrade to 5.0 upgrade. In the Forum control panel under the Options > Content Settings in the spam posts section, if I tick 'Allow links in posts' and click update, it goes right back to being unticked.
Have I overlooked something?
by admins, do you mean sp or wp? the former is allowed to do so always...
but if you option is off, that would explain it... what message at top do you get when you save???
can you save any other options?
Just tested on couple test sites and the option saves fine for me, so not a general problem...

SP admins. They don't get a message up top, they just get the red warning at the bottom that they are not allowed to put links in post content.
They can save a post with text or an image just fine, just not links.
I figured this was not a general problem, but what would not allow the 'allow links in posts' option to save?
No, admins are not susceptible to any of those kind of options or permissions... they have God like power...
saving any form in the admin should bring up a yellow box at the top with the status of the saving... if you are not getting that, should look for some js conflicts...

The admins are able to post links they just cannot use the admin options, it's the regular members and moderators that cannot insert links.
I thought you were asking about the message on top of the screen for saving the post in the forum. I do get a settings updated message up top after I tick allow links in posts, but then it just goes right back to being unticked.
OK let's see.
- Does this happen on any other Admin panel or is it restricted to this one?
- Can you check for scripting errors? Firebug for Firefox or any of the development tools now built in to most browsers(although I can not speak for IE) all have script consoles which will display any script errors if they happen.
- If unique to this panel - if you change it and update then navigate to another place - like the WP dashboard and then come back to the forum admin is it still not saved correctly?
Start with those...

1. Restricted to this admin panel
2. First thing I checked for was conflicts and/or errors (even warnings); none that I can see in FF, Chrome, or Safari on both PC and Mac
3. Yes, that is correct. If I change it, then update it and navigate away and come back it still has not saved.
Post links filtering options will not save either.
This is what I get after emptying the SP error log, and them attempting to save 'allow links in posts options'.
