Support Forum
Hi,
I am working on a website where we planned to add a membership plugin like Magic Members or WishList Members to deal with paid registrations for forum users.
At the moment we only have a PayPal subscription plan that we want temporarily keep going using for new members.
I was wondering if is there a way to use the Gravity Forms User Registration Add-on where new members after they have paid get the Welcome email from SimplePress, is that feasible? Any suggestion?
This only for a short period, when we install the membership plugin we won't need any more this solution.
Look forward to your help, thanks.
not sure I follow exactly what you want... a temporary solution until you have a membership plugin in place, is that right?
afraid we are not that familiar with gravity forms, but if they have an addon that works with WP and uses the WP API for adding new members, then it should work fine with simple press too... our plugin just needs to be notified of new members and the wp api does this... my guess is that it would work fine...

Hi Mr Papa, yes a temporary solution.
I have setup the user registration using the Gravity Forms addon.
At the moment we get the following:
- The new member is redirected to the PayPal page
- The admin receive the notification on New user registration on your website
The problem is: How to trigger SimplePress to send the welcome email after the user has paid with PayPal?
I look forward to your help, thanks
welcome email? The one wp sends? we do offer option to customize it, but its wp that sends it...
is the user actually created inside of wp? if so, and gravity forms followed the wp api, then wp will fire a hook telling us a user was created/registered. if the user was created in wp, can you see if it was created in sp? check the spmembers table and see if there is entry for the new user...
If so, you are probably just getting hit with the long standing wp issue of sending out emails, particularly on shared hosting... installing an smtp plugin for wp, such as HGL SMTP, usually will fix that issue...
let us know what you find...

Hi Mr Papa,
Good News!!
I had to actually fine tune the Gravity Forms user registration add-on, it's working fine now.
After the user pay through PayPal the user get *finally* the Welcome email from Simple:Press with all details and password.
So I can confirm that SP works well with Gravity Forms I assume since they both use the WordPress API.
Many Thanks for your help.
Regards
good news indeed! thanks for the update...
