the entire forum is essentially down as no one can reply to any topics, no errors come up the button just does nothing.

I've disabled various SP plugins, sp upload and upload viewer appear to be the bad guys this week, but no results.  The error log has quite a few notices and one warning but no actual errors.

finally inspecting with chrome tools came up with a javascript error below.. I have no idea what to do from this point on.. help?

<a href="javascript:void(null)" class="spButton spRight spNewPostButton" id="spPostNewButtonBottom" data-form="spPostForm" data-type="post" title="Make a new post in this topic">

Javascript:void(null) isn't actually an error, but assuming the forum in question is the one on the site in your profile then I am seeing a conflict on every page of your site: 'Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [href=#]'

We may have seen this once today in another thread here, although I would need Andy or Steve to confirm if this is the same issue. If so, it will need to be rectified as it could be the cause.

Is everything up to date? WP and theme / plugins?

thanks for the quick reply!  that's the site.. crimsonguitars.com everything is completely up to date.. plugins, theme etc

looking at the other post it seems likely that we have the same problem.. I will have a quick play with the theme and see if that is it.. wish me luck!

It was definitely the theme, I'm using Avada and it seems they've just released a new version, I'm jumping through hoops to upgrade.  After briefly reverting to a very ugly old theme though everything worked perfectly, if rather unattractively.. hopefully the new version of the theme will fix the problem.. if not, well.. time to go shopping!

Thank you for your help 🙂

yes, we have heard from few folks on how Avada broke in the most recent release of wp... but the theme update has fixed it for them, so hopefully you have same results...
