We have an issue with the forums whereby users are logged in, but they only see the forums, not the links to the other resources.

I've attached a screen shot of what they should be seeing.

Any ideas on where to go to start to resolve this? What makes it trickier is that the problem is intermittent.what-they-should-see.pngImage Enlarger

Hello

Fair enough - to explain  more fully:

People login, and they should see a list of resources on the right (better screen shot attached). All the see is "members area" and "forums".

Also, they can be logged in for a while, but instead of being automatically logged out, it looks as if they are still within the forum - there is no page which comes up to say "you are logged out"

In both cases, they need to logout then back in again in order to see all the links.

it's an intermittent issue and doesn't happen for all people, and the people it happens for it doesn't happen to all the time.

I've tried changing the tracking timeout in Forum - components - Login and Registration from 20 minutes to 60 minutes. However, I suspect this isn't the problem as we have another instance of SimplePress (Version: 5.1.4 Build: 9150) where this issue doesn't occur. The problem occurs in SimplePress Version: 5.2.6 Build: 9877.

Both Wordpress versions are 3.5.1

the "good" SP install is on the theme Thesis 1.8.2

the "Bad" SP is on theme Twenty Twelve 1.1 (not sure the theme is relevant though)

Hope that explains it a bit more - if you need any other info, or if I've not made anything clear please do let me knowBEC.pngImage Enlarger

It is more likely that this has something to do with the WP Theme if you have no caching plugin installed - which I assume you don't. Having said that WP 2012 should be OK. So perhaps the best question would be - how and what puts those links on the sidebar?

Hello YellowSwordfish

OK, there are no caching plugins

The links down the sidebar are pages. Not sure how this could be relevant to the question though?

Is thee anything we can implement to help stop this problem occurring? If the users are logged in, then surely they should see all the links? Any pointers on how to go about resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

The links down the sidebar are pages. Not sure how this could be relevant to the question though?

since those links are the ones  you say are not showing up, its very relevant to know how the links get in the sidebar in the first place...

still collecting data, so nothing to offer yet - kind of a mystery since its never happened before and a bit confusing how it could be intermittent...

have you gone to forum - integration - page and permalink and tried some of the display options there?  maybe try the wp api option... also are you filter the wp page links there?

and how about a link to your site so we can see what else is running on your site...
