Support Forum
Hello support,
I want to export my vBulletin 3 forum to Simplepress.
http://www.meisterkuehler.de/forum/
We have about 350,000 posts and 7000 users.
The export takes about 2 days on an Intel Quadcore with 4GB RAM and breaks off always, respectively, forums are not exported.

Can you help me ?
Thank you very much
Rolf
sorry, why are you exporting? have you tried using our importer? It does not require you to export anything... it will access the vbulletin database and attempt to import directly...

@mr-papa - I think Rolf is almost certainly referring to our importer.
Sadly, out importer is getting a little long in the tooth and needs to be rewritten to use AJAX calls.
The problem here, I assume, is the 350,000 posts and a timing out of the importer script. That is an enormous amount of posts and the importer will timeout long before it finishes that lot. You could temporarily extend the site server timeout but that has downsides as well.
You might be better off. talking to someone like the gConverter people (http://gconverters.com) although they do make a small charge. I have no idea how much though,

@papa
ich habe den sp importer benutzt, der funktioniert ab nicht
Hello Yellow,
Thank you for your quick feedback.
I know gConverter, but the costs for such a big forum is too high.
Is there no support for the SP Importer tool?
What alternatives would I have?
If I use gConverter, then I can also use bbpress and paid the silver membership and do not need it.
But I am convinced that the SP is a super forum software, I am now looking for a possibility to migrate my large forum to SP.
who can help me ?
Wow - that IS a lot...
I am not sure what to say. I tend to think the only way you could get our importer (as it is currently cded) to work with such a large database of posts would be if you could mirror the website on a local server with a copy of the database and then run it locally. Sorry - but I can think pn no other way short of re-coding the importer which, while we are aware it is needed, is not a quick or simple task.

wow... no clue they were that much - just that folks had reported good success using them (we are not affiliated with them in any way)...

Thanks for your feedback.
The SP importer works, we have tried it in a test environment. We use 4 different test environments, with different parameters.
The longest export took 2 days and 14 hours. Unfortunately, the SP importer script works only in single mode and does not use the available RAm or CPUs.
