vBulletin to SP Import

I'm embarrassed to say, but I did a test import about 2 months ago from vBulletin to SP to make sure I got it right, but I did it with an old backup and all went right

Now I'm ready to go live and now I can't remembered what I did when using the SP importer. I think I had an issue with the vBulletin Database Host, which is normally localhost, but I thought I remembered I had to use something else.

I know I'm close since I'm getting: Error: Unable to query USERS using the db settings supplied

Any help?

Apologies for the delay but sadly I don't think we can be much help here. Those connection settings can be literally anything. But you will need to have the vBulletin db on the same mysql server as your WP site install so whatever host name WP is using (in your wp-config.php file) will be the same for the other db.

But database name, user name and password are, I am afraid, beyond us.

No problem! I understand. Yes, the databases are on the same mysql server.

I just thought I would throw it out there and see what others say.

Time to play around some more.

Well thinking some more about it but not only must the host name be the same but the connection credentials must be stored somewhere that connect to the vBulletin site. I am unfamiliar with vBulletin but like WP they must have a file somewhere on the site with those connections details in.

Well I'm even more embarrassed now!

After many hours of trying to track down everything I could possibly think of, I finally figured it out. Stupid me, it should have been my first thing to check.

Here's what happened and to make a long story short:

I did an export of our live forum's database, did the select all, well apparently that doesn't include the 2 page of the database (ya, you see where this is going). SO the second page includes the USERS table among others, therefore the import couldn't happened without the users table in there.

So exported the second page of the database changed the the info, uploaded and BAM! Import worked.

and the issue that we had before was the required prefix, where we didn't have any, which we figured out by removing what was required.

Now back to the hall of shame....
