I am a new Gold user using the WordPress uploader to upload my own .wmv videos to my media library. When I add a video to a post from my media library it displays and plays perfectly. If I copy the short code for the same video into a forum discussion nothing displays or plays. How do I display and play my videos in forum discussions? What video formats does the forum support of videos uploaded to my media library? Thanks!

are you filtering shortcodes in the forum? forum - options - content settings... if so, you need to allow that particular shortcode...

What are the reasons I would want to filter short codes, except for those designated by me?

depends on the shortcodes in use by your site... if you allow any shortcodes in the forum, ANY users can use them in posts... perhaps some shortcodes are better not used by users in posts (typically wp shortcodes used in posts/pages so limited to users who can create such)... so you can limit, if needed...
