I don't know where to begin, I have been using Simple:Press on other sites for years, but, this is a new install, and after activating, I noticed the following error message at the top of the page;

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/********/public_html/index.php:15) in /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/********/public_html/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-ahah-handler.php on line 21

I tried deactivating all other plugins, the Simple:Press plugin, reactivating, deactivating, but the error message stays.

So, I just continued, and after setting up themes and plugins for Simple:Press, I set up the first forum etc, at the point of adding the first topic, it really got bad and not only did it create a duplicate topic, but it crashed, then redirected to my 404 error page, so I did not see all of the error messages that followed.

My server is runing PHP 5.2.17 , MYSQL 5.5.21 and Simple:Press 5.0.5

The URL is http://AmericansNOTforObama.com/forum, sorry if you are a supporter, but I really need some help. Thanks guys, you have always come through in the past, and I am stuck.

how did you install the plugin?  hopefully not with the wp plugin installer since it does not support plugins with multiple directory levels like sp... first time installs must be done via http://ftp... after that the wp updater can be used...

and assume you put in wp-content/simple-press?

I would try re uploading via ftp once again, perhaps some files did not make it...  a common problem with filezilla and large uploads, I might add in case that is your ftp weapon of choice...

I uploaded via FTP, I use SmartFTP, have been for a decade, I love it. However, I am using satellite unfortunately, so there could have been an issue there.

Yes, I uploaded the whole thing as it is, then, I uploaded the themes and plugins as well. The funny thing, I have one site using Simple:Press, that has been since the beginning, it has been upgraded, over and over and is now current, it works fine.

Ok, I am going to deactivate, and re-upload, lets see if that does it, I'll be back in a bit, Thanks!

EDIT: Wait a minute, put it in wp-content/simple-press? and not wp-content/plugins/simple-press?

It does go into the plugins folder -  wp-content/plugins/simple-press

After I had replied, I saw what he wrote, I did go verify where it went, just in case. However, even after deleting, re-uploading, twice now, I still have errors as before. If you click on the feed link, you get a page full of them.

As I said, I have now deleted and re-uploaded, twice, saving the permalinks, three or four times, activating, deactivating, so on and so forth, but still no luck.

Any ideas? Thanks everybody, I know it is probably something so simple, that after we find it, well you know what I mean.

Anyway, I stated before this was a new install, with the lates version of WP 3.3.2

You have some other issues that need to be looked at first. Trying to go to your site using Google Chrome I get this.

americansnotforobama.com contains content from icecover.com, a site known to distribute malware. Your computer might catch a virus if you visit this site.
Google has found malicious software may be installed onto your computer if you proceed. If you've visited this site in the past or you trust this site, it's possible that it has just recently been compromised by a hacker. You should not proceed, and perhaps try again tomorrow or go somewhere else.

Using Firefox I see some script being loaded before the DocType stuff.

This is on every page of your site. You may want to contact your host and have them take a look.

Wow, I just put this site together, how did that happen? I used chrome and all of the main browsers, I have a very good spy-anti-virus too, I never got anything for an error. I will check it out. Thanks

Ok, I had the host run a check, nothing found. This domain had no content at all until 2 days ago, and I put it there. Due to the political nature of this domain, it is highly likely that someone just reported it as having something, when it didn't and if you look at what Google says here;

What is the current listing status for icecover.com?

Site is listed as suspicious - visiting this web site may harm your computer.

Part of this site was listed for suspicious activity 2 time(s) over the past 90 days.

What happened when Google visited this site?

Of the 1 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 0 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2012-04-25, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 2012-04-25.

You will notice, this is about icecover.com, whatever that is, and as I said, my host scanned it, and nothing was found. This Simple:Press issue still needs to be resolved. As far as the code being loaded before the doctype, that is text/javascript which is from facebook or one of the plugins I'm using, at least according to the source code.

This theme is a Genesis child theme, derived from the Sleek child theme, I modified it, so I trust it, maybe it added the code, but as I said, my host has checked it, nothing was found.

Anyway, any ideas on fixing my Simple:Press problem?
