Hello,
After what appeared to be a successful install these are the errors I am getting when I navigate to the forums.

It sounds like you are running php in 'strict' mode. Good for debugging but not good for a production site. I would seriously recommend amending the error reporting to not be strict.
We do have a task to support strict error reporting but more because it is the 'neat' thing to do than it being totally necessary.
