It happens to me on this forum as well although I am curious that Steve reports earlier in this thread that it did not happen to him. The only difference I know of is that he uses Windows and I use OSX.

I believe this is related to the problem of using the title bar to drag the popup window around. Am I right in assuming that when you try that on your site the window jumps down the screen? We believe this to be a jQuery UI issue but are still looking hard at it to see if we can pin it down.

nope. works fine for me.  but that is consistent with this issue. almost random per user when it occurs.  referring to the original post issue, not the dragging popup...  this is scrolling (not moving) the list and being able to use it..

Its never happened to me on any site I have visited... worked through with about 3 users that had it occurring for some users but fine for others...

Andy, if that (scrolling and right clicking) happens for you now, its our first opportunity to debug anything...  still might be jquery ui related, but its clearly different from the dragging issue...

its happened to so few users (less than half dozen) that at this point, the best work around has been to change the popup to a new fixed page load then do the right click load in another page to any items in there....

Try this Steve - in this strict order...

  1. Open the new posts popup. You will need enough posts in there so it scrolls.
  2. Select the first item on the list - in other words do NOT scroll. Right click so it opens in a new tab.
  3. Now scroll to the end and right click on the last item in the list.

For me that will now NOT load the page request AND will reset the popup list to the top every time. very repeatable.

I just want to add that this happens not only to a few users, but to ALL users at my forum that tried above procedur explained by Andy. Which was the reason i implemented Steves suggestion and changed the popup to a new fixed page load.

However the popup is really neat and it would be nice having it back.

If anyone is reading this thread for which this problem does NOT occur then we would very much appreciate hearing from you and inspecting your site...

Could you try an experiment for me? In your WordPress theme CSS file could you add somewhere - perhaps near the top -

html, body {position: relative}

and see of that helps at all?

that does not help :(

Also, the not being able to click on anything seems to have been a temp glitch, that resolved itself before I tried this... so back to where we were last time I posted.

Oh well - it was worth a try. I believe that should fix the dragging of the window issue. I wil take a look to see if WordPress will be updated any of the jQuery components in the next round.
