Hello good people,
I'm new to Simple-Press, I like it and chose it over all other forums (free and paid) to integrate with WordPress. So I joined the Gold level to go deeper. I really want to USE WordPress and USE Simple-Press and not live in forums and support groups to get things done every day. That let's you know I'm a user and don't want to be wrist deep in code when I have my real work to do 
I'm curious about the icons.
For example, in our forum we see a small bubble with ellipses and a plus symbol on top of the blue chat bubble.
This appears where there are no replies to posts and where there are replies.
It also appears where a post has been viewed and where it has not been viewed.
When I hover over the icon no title tag appears to say what the mini-icon represents. And we can't figure it out by guessing.
How will we explain to our forum users what the icons mean if we can't guess what they are?
And here on this site I see MANY icons! For instance, what is the lifesaver ring for? And there are others icons as well.
I've gone through this site, searched posts, looked at all of the codex menu, and I cannot seem to find a place where all of the icons are listed and described with images.

Sorry - where do you see that one so I know we are referring to the same thing!
First up our Group and Forum icons on this site are all just customised for our needs. The 'Lifesaver' icon is commonly used as an icon for 'help' for example.
Most icons that are not shown against a label or button should have a tooltip although I know there are one or two exceptions to this. Mostly, as with all icons, they are just there to pretty things up - they are rarely required.
But - ALL of the supplied icons can be replaced with your own should you so wish. Just as you can alter the tooltip text, the placement, the styles etc.

Mr. Swordfish (or anyone),
I know this is not my topic, but could you explain those things a little more? I would like to know where I can get more or custom icons. Or where I can find my icons. And how to add a tooltip. I'm new to the forum and getting a little confused by what is forum and what is WP. So far I've been able to find every question I have answered somewhere else, but this is the closest I could come to these questions.

All the main icons are in the Simple:Press theme folder under /images. You can change them or if you want to change the icon for a group or forum you can upload them using the Forum Admin > Forums - Custom Icons page.
Once uploaded you can then go into manage forums and choose the one you want to display. You can also have separate icons that are different for when there is a new post in a forum. Any icons you ad should be close in size to the orginal ones so you don't get any display issues.
The Tooltip is the text box that pops up when you hover over a link in the forum.
There are tons of icon sites. http://findicons.com/ for example.
