What could cause the forums to simply not display

Hello,

I installed simple-press on a new site I'm currently working on. I'm not sure why but it's just not showing up at all on the page specified. I just get a blank page with my header and footer. When I inspect the element there is no code. I've installed Simple-Press in the past with no issues.

I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting. I've double checked most of the settings. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Is this with a WP theme you have used before? Try this - briefly switch WP themes to the default to see if it displays correctly. That will help narrow down what we need to look at.

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I just tried switching the theme. I tried twenty eleven and twenty ten, neither worked.

Where should we go from here?

did you check the integration panel for page selection and permalink? And check also that the forum page is in a published state.
After tat - perhaps a link would be helpful if that is possible?

Yeah I checked the integration panel, as well as the page selection and permalink. Everything seemed to be in order. I'll PM you a link. If you would like log ins please let me know.

Perhaps an SP admin account might be easiest - then we can inspect all of the settings - if that is OK.

Please PM credentials to both myself and to 'Mr Papa'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.

Well, well. This is something I have never seen before!

Your WP page template - rather than just using the standard the_content() call to display the page content actually loads it first into a variable using get_the_content() and checks whether there is anything in it! If there isn't then it doesn't bother displaying it. And the forum page has nothing in it of course...

So - the simple addition of something - I just put an 'X' character brings the page into life...

Over to you smile

Yeah, I'm going to have to say I probably would have never looked at that. Thanks for all of your help!

I know I said this once before, but I'm really happy with your service. Great product and great support.
