So would somebody care to enlighten me on the differences between "Watch this topic" and "Subscribe to this topic" are???

I need to write a faq entry on this... 
subscribe means you subscribe to a topic and receive notifications on new posts to that topic...
watch means you are flagging the topic as something you want to revist or watch... you will not received any notifications on new posts... additionally, admins and moderators can add watches to a topic for other admins and operators to indicate they should look at the topic...

Thank you. I was under the impression that I would receive notifications from both options. Thank you for straightening that out for me.
Great that you have a FAQ for that now. because the codex was the first place I checked. I thought I was just overlooking it.
