I just updated the forum and now there is nothing when I click forum on my website. It is only a white screen. I followed the instructions so I don't know why this is happening. The plugin is activated.

You might want to check the forum permalink setup.
I assume you can get into the forum admin section.
Go to Integration - Page and Permalink and make sure the page shown is the correct forum page. Then click on update forum permalink and see if that helps.

I cannot get into the forum administration. Before, if I hovered above the forum icon there was a long list of things to click on. Now there is nothing there when I hover. So, I cannot do as you suggested. Any other ideas? It's been down for a while now. If I unistalled it and re-installed, would it lose everything that was posted before the update?

I think I forgot to deactivate the old copy before activating the new. The problem now is, when I try to deactivate the current plugin, nothing happens--it just goes to a white screen and doesn't deactivate. I'm going to backup my database and uninstall and start over.

I had to uninstall the whole thing. My backup was corrupted, and so I lost everything. After re-installing I tried to activate the plugins I just paid $40 for and it turns out, that must have been the issue. When I tried to activate the first one, my forum blew up and I have a white screen again. I'm very frustrated.

Ohh sorry to hear that. Depending on your host some of them have automatic backups also. They may be up to a week old but at least it would be something.
I take it the forum now loads fine until you activate a SP plugin. If that is the case I would check your plugin folders on the server and make sure none of them have a number in the folder name. If they do then delete the number and then try activating.
You could also check the error.log file on your server to see if it contains anything in regards to SP plugins.

I checked the folders and there were no numbers. Also, I don't know where the error.log file is on my host. I have blue host. Where would I find it?

I found the error log. Turns out, it does have something about the forum plugins in it. However, I have no idea how to read the error or what it means. This is really long but I am copying what it says here so I can hopefully get some help with this. Thanks!

those errors clearly show the plupload directory named incorrectly...
so they are either meaningless and old, or you still have an sp plugin incorrectly named....
as Brandon requested, please look at the plugin directories in wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins
