I just don't like the auto embed function.
Let's do it this way. Just tell me the basic steps to get an image from the uploader into a post without auto embedding. Let's pretend auto-embedding doesn't exist.
(Real world example: I just uploaded an image, it auto embedded, but I accidentally deleted it from my post before I published the post. How do I embed it again?)
Tell me the issue with auto-inserting (it is not embedding - whatever you think that means - it is inserting as it says). All it is doing is what you are asking to be able to do manually., It is inserting the correct html for the image into the post content at the point of the cursor. What could you possibly object to with that - when it is the very thing you are trying to achieve?

Of course not, You can paste in image urls to your hearts content. What I said earlier was that until we get a good file browser back in place that is secure you will need to know that url as we can't look it up for you. And that is on the cards and needed as soon as we can.
But you didn't answer my question regarding auto-inserting.

That is not useful though, when one is using the upload plugin, because there is no way to get the image URL from the uploader itself. As it stands right now you have to publish the post, then get the URL from the attachment box, and then edit the post and use the TinyMCE insert function. Right? And if you have the attachment box setting disabled, then you have no way of getting the uploaded image URL at all.
It isn't that I don't like auto-inserting. Rather, several of my users found it confusing. First off, if auto-inserting is enabled, there should be a line somewhere in the uploader that media will appear automatically in posts since the uploader does not include a built-in insert function. Second, if you accidentally delete an uploaded image in the text input area when trying to move it or whatever, there is no way to re-insert the image without uploading it again.
It is just a clunky system compared to how smoothly everything else in Simple:Press works.
as mentioned, a image uploader browser is on the list to do fairly soon... I can also say that the overwhelming majority of users have expressed satisfaction and happiness with the current uploader vs the old security riddled file manager... of course, everyone has different needs...
insertion occurs at the current cursor point... the cursor is a flashing object and stands out quite a bit...

sorry, support like what? telling you that we dont have a feature that you want but its on the list? or trying to explain that the insertion occurs where the cursor was at? apologies if my intention was misread...

What exactly is your complaint about the support? I have just reread this thread from the beginning and it seems to me that we have answered the questions as best we can. A little confusion here and there over your original terminology, some confusion over the working practice you wanted to adopt. You have raised one issue which I think is of genuine concern - that of inadvertently deleting an uploaded/inserted image and how to get it back - and I have already started the process of discussing that here and seeing how best to address it. So what, exactly, is the complaint?
