I have added the same recipe four times now to Dessert >> Cookies at this forum. I click submit topic and it takes me back to the main forum page without saving the recipe. What to do? I haven't had this problem with the other forums on this site.

Thanks!

So all other forums you can post in fine except the cokies one?
If you are having issues posting in other forums this wouldn't be the cause but if all work ok then try changing the name of the forum to another name that doesn't use the word cookie. Try Biscuit? :)

Believe it or not some hosts block the use of that word in certain instances.

Yes, all other forums are fine except this one. I will try your suggestion. It's difficult to find another name for "cookies" though! :) Thank you for your help.

Okay, here's what I found after doing a little digging. I'm using the Profanity Filter plugin. I found "Do not use Word Boundary Checking" was unchecked. I decided to check it (even though I don't know what it means), and I can now use the word "Cookies" in the forum. I tested it thoroughly. This may help someone else who runs into a problem like this somewhere along the line. Thanks for your help!

Interesting. Thanks for the tip.

Even though it's probably a small case of people that would have this issue we now have something we can refer to and think about.

Thanks for filing us in.

Well, strike what I said, please. I went in with the full recipe, and it would not post with the word cookies in it. I don't know why it accepted a much smaller recipe with the word cookies in the title and the body of the post. I checked to see if there were any other objectionable words, but could find none! So I'm back where I began. I simply cannot run a culinary forum where other people post when the word cookies cannot be used. I had a simple-press forum on another website, and I never had this problem, so I'm sure it's a problem with the host, but I'll get to the bottom of it.

Brandon, I thought you might want to see the "offensive" recipe. Maybe it didn't like the word "gooey."

Pink Lemonade Gooey Butter Cookies

1 (18.25 ounce) box Pillsbury Pink Lemonade cake mix
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1 teaspoon lemon extract
Grated zest of 1 large lemon
Granulated sugar for rolling
Confectioners' sugar for rolling

Cream butter until soft and creamy. Add cream cheese; beat until smooth.

Beat in egg, lemon extract and lemon zest until combined.

Add cake mix; beat until well mixed. If dough is too soft to roll into balls, refrigerate 1-2 hours until easy to handle.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Roll dough into 1 1/4-inch balls; roll balls in granulated sugar to coat, then drop them into confectioners' sugar to coat well. Place the dough
balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets; flatten slightly.

Bake for 9-12 minutes. DO NOT over-bake. Take cookies out of the oven when they look a little underdone.

Let the cookies cool on the pan for 1-2 minutes; remove to wire racks and cool completely. Store in an airtight airtight.

Makes about 2 1/2-3 dozen.

Well - this is a weird one to wake up to and that is for sure!

Let's talk Profanity Filter first. Unless you have actually tried and successfully made this exact post with the Profanity Filter plugin deactivated then I suspect that is a red herring. Can you confirm this please?

I don't really see that it is the word Cookie either. After all, you use the word Cookie in the 'Meltaway Cookies' topic several times without apparent incident.

Can you take a look in your forum admin > Toolbox > Error Log. Are there any actual error reports (as opposed to warnings or notices)? Perhaps a database error report...?

And the one thing not shown here that might be on interest - what was the topic title?

This IS strange as I have posted other cookie recipes with no problem. It seems to be just this particular recipe! And I copied and pasted the recipe from Notepad, so there was no HTML in it...just plain text. Yes, I did try to post it after deactivating the profanity filter. It does the same thing.

I just tried to post the recipe PINK LEMONADE GOOEY BUTTER COOKIES again, and it rejected it. This is what showed up in the error log:

Well I didn't really think the profanity filter plugin was the problem but I was hoping there might be an error showing up in your error log. But clearly not that simple an issue.

So - clearly the post saved with no hitch on this site which does suggest something unique at play on yours. I think the next stage is to check with your hosting support on whether they have 'mod_security' active on your website. If they have - you could perhaps ask them if they would be willing to turn it off at least for a long as it might take to make an experimental forum post. Just in case this is the issue. If they ARE willing to turn it off remember they will need to reboot your web server after doing so and before you can make the test.

While you are talking to them you could also, perhaps, ask them if they could look in your php error log on the web server to see if there are any errors in there that might be associated with making a forum post.
