I guess I'm on my own with this then. Would you guys suggest me concentrating my efforts on MyCred or My Achievements? I can hire a freelancer to do this for me.

So, long topic... and wandering a bit... what do you want to do? modify one of our plugins (achievements, my cred or cubepoints)?
if so, we might be able to work up a custom quote if you like...
Andy actually wrote all three, but I believe he favors MyCred as being the most customizable...

Steve is correct. MyCred is much easier to work with and build on. It has better documentation and a much better and easier API to work with. And to be brutally honest, the guy who wrote the Achievements plugin made it clear he has no time or wish to support Simple:Press as he thinks bbPress is far superior. And the guy who wrote myCred has been extremely helpful!
I realise they work differently and offer completely different approaches by for me myCred wins hands down.

If you are familiar with my site, we have players that video themselves and share it with others. We also have projects, and so called "Parties". With the projects, they send me the videos and I put them all together for a virtual international group youtube performance. With the parties, a person will choose a piece or a genre and post their performance of that piece and others will post theirs on the same thread.
We want to offer badges that will display on their profiles that can only be earned. Gives a type of motivation for the users to get more involved, practice more, have something to look forward too ....etc.
I call them badges but you guys might call them something else. Some kind of cool graphic reward, metal, trophy, gamify....

All of the WordPress plugins of this type that I am personally familiar with (and I am sure there are others I am not) tend to reply on a specific event to trigger the award. It sounds very much from your description, that you would be making these awards manually on merit and on events that can not be automatically listened for by the code.
Would that be a fair assumption? If it is then it probably doesn't really matter what plugin you use. If it caters for 'badges' and has an API we can call then doing a little custom work to enable things to show up on the profile and in, perhaps, forum posts, would not be that much of a problem.

Cool. You guys can choose which plugin. I'm not that excited over the point system from MyCred but I can disable that. I'll await your proposal. I'm sure I can find volunteers on my site to make the badges....
You can PM me to discuss the cost.

Either of the two will be fine.

MyCred has badges but I don't think it does what I want. If so, I haven't been able to figure it out.
