I had a guy on my forum making a lot of cross-posts so I deleted most of them. The only thing is that the post count isn't correct anymore. It doesn't decrease when deleting a post. That doesn't make any sense.

Clicked on a username where it said "5 posts". and then there's only 1 post on his profile page. Very confusing and annoying. It's weird some users have even posts, but then you look, and they don't.

Like all other forum software the post count should be decreased when deleting a post.

And is there anyway I can "refresh" post count for all users. A lot of users are showing a wrong count now..

Actually - we think it makes a lot of sense and it isn't a bug. The guy made the post. The fact that it was subsequently deleted does not alter the fact that he made the post.
To fall in line with the alternate view - or to deny that the post was made - then the data could be changed using sql queries directly into the database. Or - as there is an action hook in the delete post routine then that could be used to run extra code.

You should make a poll and ask users, or let the users be able to choose the count method in settings. I think it makes sense to show how many post a user cuurently has.

When you delete a friend on facebook it decreases. It doesn't say this guy have had xx friends. It says how many there currently are. Same goes for WordPress comments, Tweets a user made on Twitter etc. When something gets deleted, it means that it doesn't count anymore.

You also don't leave the counter the same for PM statistics. Sent and inox decreases when deleting something. So why don't the the same for posts as you fo in PM and as on other software :)

Sorry, but it makes perfect sense. A post made is a post counted. But I don't doubt there are cases where users would want different action. That's what out hooks are for. You can hook into the deletion process and adjust counts as you see fit. We have discussed this multiple times and we have no plans to change core behavior on post made being post counted.

if its important to you now, just add the filter on the delete post and force a decrement in the post count...

damn, it took a long time for my post to show up...  sent it before Andy's reply... :(
