Need to add a field "Where are you from?" to login. Installed SP plugin called Custom Profile Fields. In Plugins, selected Options. Made new custom field and updated. Nothing happened. No instructions how to use. Looked in the Codex. Wasn't helpful. Need help from Simple:press.

as the title of that plugins states, it adds custom fields to a user profile... not a user login... and also, the sp profile (and wp profile) already have a location field on them...
logins and registration are the realm of wp... we just tag along... there are multiple plugins for wp that allows you to add new fields to a user registration form (or login but suspect you really mean registration)... I would suggest grabbing one of them...
