Support Forum
Hi swordfish, sorry for lazyness in reporting, but I was assuming this as a standard feature.
Answering your questions.
I'm installing my first sp5 (i used already a few sp4)
and I've used a bounch of sp plugins, and of course, the Private Messaging one.
After installing it I was not seeing any buttons, so I've found out that I had to assign private messages capabililties to user groups.
After this, logging in as a standard member (i'm using sp default user groups and permissions sets) I am able to see the Private messages button, and the whole interface to send buttons to users etc...
but if I login as admin (I mean the admin who has installed the forum and WP) I cannot see the button for private messaging and If I try to go into my inbox hardcoding URL I get just an empty forum, no PM functionalities at all.
PS: I could let you see the live example, but as the website is still under construction in a "service" domain I would prefer not to post here the URL. If you want to have a look I can send you credentials via PM
That may prove useful.
But first - excuse me for double checking but - the admin credentials you are logging in with is able to use the forum admin panels - yes? Can you confirm that is definite?
And if so then yes - credentials might prove useful. Would like that to be a full SP admin of course.
Please PM credentials to both myself and to 'Mr Papa'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.

I should have thought to ask you this...
You had turned ON the option to opt out of Private Messaging in your profile options. This is a personal setting. I have turned that off and now you have the expected inbox button.
On the translations question the way GlotPress works is that all translated strings must be validated before being made available to the download of the MO file. This is painful and very annoying but that is just the way it is. The developers of WordPress have been discussing recently whether to change this behaviour and I for one very much hope they do.
If you would like me to upgrade your account to validator status so you can complete this then let me know your login name (NOT password) on the GlotPress site and I will upgrade your account for you. Sorry ot is this way - we hope they will change it soon.

Hi Swordfish,
many thanks for you help.
I missed that option in my forum profile because Italian translation is really not understandable, I'm going right now to fix it
My account on glotpress is the same as here: bluantinoo. Thanks for trust, but I won't approve all strings just for my purpose: I've already rewritten translations directly into po files. I will control them for the sake of simple press community 🙂
