I just installed the Advanced Search plugin. When I tested it and typed in two words, let's say "head massage", I get results for "head" and for "massage". However I only want results for "head massage". I tried putting it in quotation marks like you can do in a google search, but it didn't work. The quotation marks get deleted and I still get the results for the individual words instead of the compound search term. How can I set this up so that I only get results for "head massage"?
Hey Shama,
Underneath the search box, if you click the 'Advanced Search' button you should get a dropdown where you can select 'Match Any Word', 'Match All Words', and 'Match Phrase'. You can also pick where exactly you want to search, and if you wish to include blog posts in the search.
Hope this helps!
Here are two more question.
1. When I run a search, many times the results displays this:
*** Sorry, all the search terms matched were in html attributes (such as image source) and are not displayed in the results excerpt
What does this mean and why does it come up in the search results? There are no images in my blog, so what is this in reference to?
2. There is an option to include blog posts in the search. What blog posts is this in reference to? I tried this and there are no results from the blog of my website included. So what blog is this supposed to be?
- It means exactly what it says. And it only names images as an example. The terms found were contained in html attributes not standard or simple text. Like - as it says, image attributes or perhaps a link to another site or page. They are found and the posts can be looked at but can not be displayed in the search results.
- There is only one blog and that is the one on the site hosting the forum. So was the search term you used not found in the blog posts because it doesn't appear in any posts? The feature certainly works OK and in fact I use it here on this site quite frequently.

You are correct, I had overlooked that I have to click on the two results categories - for the forum and for the blog. I will get the prescription for my glasses checked.
However the html notification still puzzles me. I checked and there are no images and no links in those threads. The only thing I can think of is that the search feature counts smilies as an html attribute - is this possible?

That's a feeling I know only too well!

Indeed - a smiley is, in fact, an image inside a standard HTML 'img' tag.
