I tried to install my first simple-press plugin from your gallery the 'online plugin'. After installing the plugin I tried to set it up and this message popped up http://screencast.com/t/svakKzajCp  When I went to go to the main forum page which is setup as my home page, the forum page is blank just a solid white page with no options. Also, I was able to access all other pages on my site after I did some investigating. eek Ok actually this morning when I woke up all pages are blank now. So I deactivated simple-press and everything is back to normal. Please help me fix this problem.

The path in that screenshot is wrong. It appears to have created a folder called 'online1' when it should just be called 'online'. I think if you rename the folder then it should be OK.
Are you using the most up to date SP here (5.1.1)? Because I believe we had am occasional problem with the WP plugin Uploader doing this but I rather thought it was corrected in 5.1.1

Yes, I have the latest version. Where do I go to rename the folder? When I click on available plugins and try to deactivate or activate the plugin it will not work as well.

Thank you for the quick reply!

FYI, I just installed this plugin a few days ago so i am not that familiar with it. I assume it's installed correctly but I can't be a 100% sure about that. All I know is I had to install it from the WordPress install plugins page. It was weird that when I went to activate SP it said something like invalid header error. So I ignored this and went back to my plugins and it was installed so I activated it then went to the simple-press forum tab and finished the installation by clicking one button and a bunch of loading bars popped up and installation was complete. Note: I did test the forum by creating a group and topic. Also I was able to test registration and themes. All the themes seemed to work except one and I can't remember then name of it but it just popped up on my site looking like scattered text and headlines. That is a minor issue I have found but the big issue is my site is gone!

The path is in the error message: /wp-content/forum-plugins/online1 - and this should just be 'online'.

The WP Plugin installer doesn't like plugins that have nested sub-folders more than (I believe) 1 deep. This is a WP bug. But I think the plugin will usually install correctly despite the header error.

Ok, I understand that I need to change the path but what steps do I need to take to edit the path? Because if you wanted me to edit the path from the screen shot I gave you it doesn't allow me to change anything or select a bulk action. So I guess what i'm asking is where do I find the error message that I can manual inspect the path? Also if I click on description it will not show the description of the plugin.

Is this part of the SP options or do I have to inspect and edit the path using WordPress settings?

Apologies. It is not the path name that needs changing. It is the folder itself - on the server - which has the incorrect name. This can be edited with an ftp client or - if you are not set up for that - your host control panel will normally have some sort of file manager tool.

Thanks for getting back to me! I will try using Filezilla or my cpanel to fix the path.

I'll let you know if I get it squared away or not.

Ps. is this the only plugin that will have this issue or have you had others have problems with the other plugins.

As I said we saw a small few of these with our 5.1.0 release but this is the first report using 5.1.1 and we believed that the problem had been plugged.
Steve (Mr Papa) who knows that part of the code will be around later and I am going to raise this thread with him.

No it is where I said above in post 4:

/wp-content/forum-plugins/online1 – and this should just be 'online'.

/wp-content/ is the main WordPress user folder off of the root folder of your site.

What is the server software by the way? Do you know?
