I installed the search plugin. This feature is very important to me since we have loads of info based in posts and I want it searchable.

I migrated all my posts over from my UBB threads forum and am thinking I need to go in and tweak each post for maximum results. True? Not so true?\

Thoughts, ideas & strategies?

Hey Robert,

I assume you're talking about the advanced search plugin? If so I'm pretty sure it should do the same job as it would if the threads were created within Simple Press.

What were you planning on tweaking?

yeah a bit confused myself...  searching will search the topic titles and post content (user definable) and potentially topic tags if using that plugin... but not sure what you would tweak either...

I want the searches for members to be relevant and, well, good. huge complaint with ubb was the search engine was crap.

I tried searching in the forum and got nothing back, which I found weird. I assumed topic tags would be the best angle to create good searches.

I bought the search plugin from SP. installed, activated. not sure if this is the one I bought (attached) ....but, results aren't there...yet....search.jpgImage Enlarger

well that search is built in and returns topics where the search term was found....  the search add on plugin instead returns actual posts (vice topics) where the term was found...

what did you search for?  with what search options?  open the advanced search form for detailed options...

topic tags offer another search option vice post content and topic titles assuming you also have the tags plugin... but yes, each topic needs to have topic tags defined which your existing topics wont... and worth adding, search by topic tags will return topics, not posts since tags are defined at the topic level...
