Hi,
We would like to have the ability to have new forum posts add a new blog post. Similar to the "Blog Post Linking" plugin, but working in the opposite direction.
I have a vague memory of reading about something along these lines somewhere, a while ago.
Is there a way to accomplish this that I have not yet found?

It is a component of the Blog Linking plugin.
Start a new forum topic and then click on the 'Options' button beneath the editor window. You should see an option there to create a linked blog post.

I didn't even see that!
The thing is, though, we would like to either:
- Make creating a blog post the default for this setting for all forum posts, or
- Even better - have the ability for an admin to go in and generate the blog post after the forum post has been submitted...like maybe using the forum toolset; or "editing" the post, having the Options available and using that to generate the blog post (the Options box isn't available when editing a post).

Option 1 could be achieved quite simply as the checkbox option has a filter applied that could force it to be checked at all times by default. This would then apply to the initial post for all new forum topics. It would then require manually unchecking if the blog post were not wanted for any specific new topic.
Option 2 would require new coding of course. I quite like the idea of using the forum toolset and will most definitely add it to the list for future discussion and perhaps implementation.
If you are interested in Option 1 I can work out the code needed for the filter and let you have it - probably later today.

Thank you for the helpful response.
As it happens, I've just heard that my client has had a change of focus for the site and no longer wants to implement this.
There is another approach that I also may need help with, but I'll open a new topic if necessary.
