Support Forum
Version .3 did resolve the issues, and yeah I have groups turned off running bp 1.6.5. I will Check out the newest one tonight, I'm surprised there aren't more people chiming in on this thread as I've seen this integration requested here and in various other places in the past... not really surprised no one from over at bp helped though
me too... has been highly requested so was hoping for bigger number chiming in... might be because its in the private support forum... but development continues!

After checking out the plugin I'm not sure what else you could add.. I really have only used BP for profiles though, to allow activity on them, friends, and so forth, so someone who uses it more may have more suggestions. Anyways, adding the forum settings, subscriptions, watches, and mentions to BP is more than enough for me . I like that mentions can still be seen straight in the forum as well as subscriptions and watches. It is convenient no matter where you are. I stress tested the forum activity to the bp activity feed a bit, tried really long posts, polls, pictures, etc. and it worked for me with no errors. Also, between the settings that existed in the admin profile tab of SP to integrate SP and BP and the new settings in the plugin you can definitely fine tune the way you want the interaction to occur .
great feedback! Thanks - its appreciated... I too have reached the conclusion that I have about covered it... the only thing I might be interested in, and it could be at later date, would be if there were any must BuddyPress plugins out there that we wanted to support... in the coming days, I will take a look, but as a BP newb, may not know any different...
The other thing I want to play with is the mentions... right now, BP does the mentions by parsing the activity feed... for the forum posts, I am using an excerpt of the forum post... so if the mention were to come after the end of the excerpt it would not show up in BP mentions... I really dont want full post content in the feed though... so stuck between a rock and a hard place... likely to live with it... but might offer an option for the excerpt length...
thanks again for helping!

This is great! I've been needing something more powerful than bbpress for forums, but the BuddyPress integration was crucial. I joined just to see how good this works. I'll try to help out where I can. Thanks again for building this!
So far so good on the code, no errors or unexpected things happening
Here's my suggestions:
There's a plugin that lets Twitter and Facebook users add their account to their profile using the BuddyPress profile fields. It might be worth checking out to see how they map fields and such and have that ability for forum signatures -
http://wordpress.org/extend/pl.....-facebook/
http://wordpress.org/extend/pl.....s-twitter/
I use the Activity section of BuddyPress for user generated content creation - blog posts, images, etc. So, for me, I really like how bbpress integrates into buddypress. Instead of into the Activity, bbpress sets a separate menu tab in BuddyPress for the Forum feed. That way the Activity doesn't get overcrowded with forum posts. However I can see how some users would want it to show it in the Activity. Maybe an option?
Screenshot of bbpress in BuddyPress:
is that forum feed YOUR topics created and replied? do they also show up in the site activity feed?
wouldnt be hard to move the forum stuff to its own tab... just wonder if confusing since it appears in the profile area in the forum... will investigate an option...
I am adding the forum profile buttons for topics started and topics posted in to buddypress, so perhaps it will make sense to do it in its own tab or subnav of activity... biggest issue is that I dont want to recreate the rss feed stuff and activity feed management - not trivial... or maybe growth... have to see...
sorry, not following how facebook and twitter stuff would map to forum signature?
thanks for the feedback!

Yes that Forum tab shows the feed per user of topics created and replied.
I had some custom code that removed the bbpress forum activity from the users Activity feed. By default the forum activity does show in both the users Activity feed and site Activity feed.
I looked through the code in the plugin I suggested. That was a bad example I gave you for the mapping, my mistake.
after a quick look, at the moment not included to add a new screen with the forum activity... Most users have asked for it in the main activity feed... dont forget there is a dropdown there for filtering the view... I have added filter elements for the forum components of the feed...
I am going to add (somewhere, not sure yet) buttons for the users topics started and topics posted... will take you back to the forum for the full list though... not sure worth recreating all that display and formatting when its already done... think the key is make it easy to know its there and then get to it...
but still thinking on the new screen as potential option...

latest version 0.6... few cleanups, minor corrections from testing and added some optional links to topics started and topics posted...
feedback welcome!

Noticed tonight that posts in a private forum (moderators have access but not members) are visible in bp activity feed for members to see..
As for the mentions I think its fine as is, full post length in the activity feed could be a bit much if someone starts writing novel size posts . Plus the forum mentions can be set to notify users in the forum.
