Hey guys! Thanks for working so hard on this, nice to see all feedback going back and forth throughout this thread..
Anywhoo, I'm suffering from the same thing @joe and @Mr Papa - uploading the plugin (in the correct place, hehe) and BOOM, my site closed the shop. Joe uploaded the screen shot earlier: http://clip2net.com/s/5wnYgm
I saw that you were discussing avatar priorities, is this the issue? Currently, my settings are:
- Uploaded Avatar
- WP Avatars
- Gravatars
- SP Default Avatars
- Avatar Pool
- Remote Avatar
So, the solution for the problem is to change it to use Gravatars on top or..? Hehe, this thing scared the living -- out of me when I tried installing it last week.. Haven't been brave enough to touch it since. Luckily I found this thread full of front line warriors..
EDIT: On an entirely different and off-topic note, any suggestions on best practice for @mentions? It's a pain trying to figure out what user name to tag when SP is showing display names.. any way to display the users @name below the display name?
I am going to have to let Steve (Mr Papa) answer the specific questions on the plugin. Actually - on the mentions plugin as well come to that!
But - I can give some general advice. If anyone ever installs any WordPress plugin - be it a main WP plugin or an SP plugin or whatever - and they lose immediate control of their site or their admin - then all they generally need to do is remove the plugin folder from their server and re-load the site.
If it is an SP plugin, before removing it, check the folder name on the server as it might have had a number appended to it (i.e., 'buddypress-1'). This is a WP problem we are still trying to sort out and quite simply the number should not be there so removing that in the folder name will usually put things right.

That's what I did last time (after the initial 14-year-old-girl-panic attack.. hehe). The scare did however refrain my noob ass from trying to install it again, but I guess it's time to be a man now
Thanks for the note on the numbers! I'll keep my eyes open for them.
if you are trying to use bp or sp avatars across, then you need to remove wp avatars from your priority... its a bit of a infinite loop circle...

Which update??? there has been a core update and two BP updates... more info please...

have you also updated the plugin?

and wp and bp?
its odd because core is not involved in this at all... nothing changed there unless it did in wp or bp, and not even sure how that would be involved... but will try to run some tests...
I assume the images are still in the forum posts themselves?
