Jamie, did you install it as a simple press plugin? and NOT a wp plugin? (see http://codex.simple-press.com/.....g-plugins/)
if so, then verify in wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins, the folder is called buddypress...

please tell me the settings for avatar you selected in the plugin? and then on forum - profiles - avatars, what do you have selected?
how does buddypress handle individual user timezones? I dont see a setting there... how does each user specify their timezone? my guess it that it doesnt let each user set a timezone and just gives everyone the same time... where as in the forum, we let each user set their timezone relative to the server time... if budypress doesnt do that, then our times may be off with not much we can do...

It looks like there is no time zones settings for individual user in BuddyPress (at least I didn't find any). I think the time is what ever WordPress is set to. But I have WP and SimplePress both set to Los Angeles time and for some reason it is 7 hour off. As soon as I post a new topic on SimplePress, it shows up on BuddyPress activity page as it was posted 7 hours ago.
avatars... so you are using buddypress avatars and in a forum topic, every user shows as the logged in user rather than the poster? will do some more testing...
you say you have WP set to LA... can you explain that? do you mean you have your timezone in the sp profile set to LA? Is that really where the server and you both are?

hmmm... I cannot duplicate the avatar issue... weird, no one else has reported this... can some other beta users please make a test?
are you using any avatar plugins for wp or bp?
