Can not get Tiny MCE Toolbar Editor to display

I have tried to do the right thing and search the forum for the answer to my problem, but I was unable to find anything that solved the problem.

I have installed Tiny MCE editor plugin onto two different sites, but on one of the sites it does not appear (and on the other one it does appear).

The site that does not work can be found at http://lowcostmarketingstrateg.....com/forum/

I have activated the plugin and I also have selected the editor in the Global settings. I have also installed and activated the Template Tags and Widgets plugin which works in tandem with the Tiny MCE Editor (I think).

I do have a lot of plugins installed on the site, and I am thinking that it is a conflict with another plugin, but how do I find out which one is causing the conflict.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Scott

It's hard to tell at the moment because you are running the wp total cache plugin and minimising the javascript. You canlt use the cache on the forum page because the data is dynamic. You need to exclude the forum page on ALL options in the cache plugin. You also need to turn off the script minimisation in the forum page. It is basically a waste of effort. All forum scripts are minimised in any case.

When that is done then we can see what is being loaded. If it still fails then - as has been stated here frequently - it is almost certainly due to bad jQuery loading and this article explains what that is all about and how to track it down: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....-conflict/

You also have a script error but we may be able to deduce what this is being caused by when we can see the scripts being loaded.

I tried several pages by the way and your site never finished loading. It seems to get stuck on repeated calls to various google services.

Thanks for the reply Yellow Swordfish.

As you can probably tell I am not familiar with either the WP Total Cache plugin or the Simple Press forum theme at this stage. I have set the rest of the site up myself though, so I am not totally stupid with coding.

I have reset WP Total Cache to the default settings, but I was unable to find anywhere that you can change the settings only for a particular page. There are options which you have suggested, but as far as I can tell it will change the settings of every page on the site, and I am not sure if this is a good idea or not.

Would you recommend that that I use a different plugin to improve performance, or should I just change the general options of WP Total Cache plugin to remove the stuff you have listed above? I am certainly willing to install a different plugin if it is going to help, but it was my understanding that WP Total Cache is the best one out there.

I am well aware that the site is loading very slowly, but I am struggling to know where to start to improve. I played around with the settings in WP Total Cache in an attempt to fix this, but as I mentioned I have now reset it back to the default settings.

I am running Google Adsense ads, so that could be another thing that is slowing it down. Do you know if this could be possible?

Thanks very much again. Scott

Well I don't see any difference except the page seems to have lost its header and sidebar. I am really not sure what is going on here. NO javascripts are getting loaded which makes me suspect it is the wp total cache. The jury is out on that to be honest. Many users find no benefit whatsoever and have more problems than are worth it. Other users swear by it.

You should find options in each section (as I understand it) to exclude specified pages. You should be able to do this by using the url - i.e., /forum/

When you site fails to load up it seems to be hanging on calls to google-analytics and google adsense. This shouldn't really happen so maybe Google is failing somewhere today.

Geez you were right, that was looking horrible.

I have since deactivated the WP Total Cache plugin, and it running faster than it ever has. Funny how the purpose of that plugin is to actually make the site faster ???

Would you recommend that I don't use any plugins for the cache and page loading, and just leave it as it? Or is there are a plugin that you guys use for this that I can install?

And back to the original problem I still can not see the html editor toolbar. I will have a good read of the link you suggested above for the jQuery, but if there is anything simple that you can suggest that would fix the problem I would love to find out.

Awesome support and awesome forum software. It has been a brilliant first impression from you guys 🙂

You have a plugin called 'wordpress-guest-post' or something like that. This is loading the same editor scripts as the forum. This could be the root of the problem. Can you try deactivating it to see if things start working?

If this plugin is not needed on the forum page does it offer an option to exclude it being loaded? Good plugins should do so....?

And yes - much punchier now!

I am having a similar problem. I'm not running the wp-cache plugin however. I have deactivated the plugins in SP and most of the plugins for the main wp area. I will start to read the link about jquery conflicts but in the mean time does anyone have an idea?

there seems to be some serious theme issues too...  but hard to tell since you are running your own custom theme...

can you switch over to one of the supplied sp themes so we can make sure its not something in your custom theme?

but maybe more importantly, not sure what your problem is???

tinymce editor showing up fine...  and working too... left you a test post at:  http://upcycledonline.com/foru.....est-1/#p11
