I was having a big time configuring and adding plugins to a new 5.0 installation and then discovered that when I clicked on the "Add a Topic" button nothing happened.
I disabled all the other WordPress plugins, changed the theme back to WP 2011 and even uploaded fresh SP files. But still no fix. I then discovered it was the SP File Upload plugin that was causing the trouble. When i disabled it, I could start topics again.
Made a little screencast of this: http://www.screencast.com/t/Hj3AuNJIrxz
Are you using Google Libraries plugin? If so deactivate and give it a try. If not try a WordPress supplied theme.

- I am not using the Google Libraries Plugin
- As mentioned in the opening post, switching to the default WordPress theme (2010) makes no difference.
Of all the plugins I installed, this one is is the least "important". My SimplePress installation will be fine without it. I think it would be good to identify the problem since it is likely to repeat itself in another installation.
Thanks.
I certainly cannot duplicate that (even in forum with no topics) with the latest sp core (build 7392) and wp 3.3...
