is tinymce the default?  be worth checking the user sp profile too and make sure that tinymce is set as the editor of choice...

I deactivated "Spoilers" so now I got rid of that silly smiley in top of the editbox 🙂

My only other suggestion would be to to check for theme and plugin issues. Try it in IE with the default Wp theme. If it still works then deactivate other plugins one by one to see if any of those are causing an issue.
