Support Forum
Hi there,
I have installed the Subscription and Post by Email plugins and have had the issue with the From name coming up as WordPress.
I have made the change to the settings under Email Settings, but the details there do not save and the details that are visible, do not become the From name anyway.
I have even updated the data from PHPmyadmin, but it still reverts back to the old data
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Steven
Am I following this correctly? Are you saying that you change the values of the email settings directly in the database yes they revert to something else when you display the admin panel?
Are you taking into account that the database record is saved as a php serialised array and thus would need the numeric control counters changing as well?
And then back to the email admin form itself - are you then saying you can not save values in that form?

Hi there,
Now you have pointed out the serialization, I may not have done that part right.
I have successfully been able to change the text in the settings now (not sure why, brain fade maybe) but the original issue is still there,
I have attached the current settings in the Email Settings, but get this is the source of the email

I don't know why they are not holding but I am seeing something similar recently on our emails as well. I have a nasty suspicion that WordPress may have made some changes to the email filters in 3.6 without us knowing anything about it and I have opened a ticket to make sure we investigate and try and get to the bottom of it.
However - as far as PBE goes - the important part s that reply-to value. And the subject/topic name. Are they correct?

Hi there,
Thanks for looking into this for me.
Yes, the rest of the system seems to work as expected, client is a bit twitchy about emails going out without their branding on it.
Let me know what you hear from WP. Is there a SMTP plugin we could use to circumvent the issue? We have other email addresses on that domain, so would have to be able to only intercept that address (only 1 forum on this site)
Cheers
