Thanks for your help. I'm really enjoying the forum. Question, does one of the plugins allow me to post what's on my blog's media library?

No, afraid not...  at least not by accessing the media library...  we have our own file uploader and storage locations (the wp one is getting closer to be able to be used though)...  but you can certainly get the url of the image and post as an image in forum post... just not open the media library, browse and select...

And as to your original question regarding thumbnails then forum admin > Options > Content Settings.
