After uploading the polls plugin, I get a fatal error even when just attempting to view the "forum" control panel:

note the name of the directory... its incorrect...  instead of polls1 it should be polls...

the wp uploader seems to occasionally do this and we are not sure why yet...

Ok, do you know how to fix it?

BTW, not sure if related but during install of simple:press it gave the following error when initially activating:

"The plugin does not have a valid header."

However, I later just manually went to the plug-ins page and clicked activate and it worked fine.

Well if you have and know how to use an FTP client program to look at the file directory on your server that is the easiest way - if not then your hosting control panel will usually come with some sort of File Manager that you can use. Just follow your nose and make the folder name change.

As Steve said it is some kind of issue with the WP Uploader code we are using but just have not managed to track it down yet.

Excellent!  A simple directory rename and I am up and running with polls!

Thanks for the quick response!

Just when I think I've got it ...  I create my first post, add a poll, and then view the post and where the poll should be is instead the text "A simple Press Poll can only appear in a forum post".

Hmm...

Did you put the poll shortcode in an actual forum topic/post?
