I have made the followings tests: in english, with theme Twenty Eleven, with theme Twenty Ten, with all plugins deactivated except SP. Unfortunately, I still have the problem in any of this configuration. OK with Firefox and Chrome, KO on IE (IE8 to be more specific).

Let's hope it's solved with the new release. I will install when uvalaible and update the post.

well, so far, its a one off unique situation...  dont have any other folks having this issue... so no overt attempt to fix anything since nothing known to be broken...  but hopeful on next version too since there was some rewrites done to make it easier for other plugins to use the file uploader...

one more thing, on forum - integration - page and permalink, what is your setting for strict use of the WP API?  might try changing that...

I just tried the folowing settings:

  1. "Filter WP list pages" and "Force the strict use of the WP API"
  2. only "Force the strict use of the WP API"
  3. "Force the strict use of the WP API" and "Load javascript in footer"
  4. "Force the strict use of the WP API" and "Load javascript in footer" and "Filter WP list pages"

None of them solves the problem.

okay, the only one that really had any wild chance was the strict wp api... shot in the dark, but thought worth trying...

Steve (Mr Papa)... with IE8 unable to make use of the HTML5 uploading could this possibly have anything to do with Silverlight perhaps being missing? Or would it naturally just fall back on HTML4 and/or Flash?

The order of precedence for which runtime gets used is: html5, silverlight, flash, html4

So yes, will use the first one available and go through the list until one is found... you should see which runtime is being used by hovering over the plupload grahpic in upper left corner...

there is a filter available on the runtime list if you want to try changing it... add a filter on 'sph_plugload_runtimes' and you can specify the runtime order...

with Chrome and Firefox, the bubble indicates "html5". on IE, no bubble at all.
