Hi Forum,

i have build my simple Press Forum (5.3.4 in Combination with WordPress 3.7.1.) with the File Uploader Plugin (same like here in the forum). Everything works fine. But if i upload a "other file type" for example "PDF" or "Doc" i didn't see the attachment in the post.

The Upload works fine. If i look on ftp in the Content Directory i see the uploaded files but nothing in the post.

In the Forum Topic View Site, i see the paperclip that suggested "Attachments in Topic" but i didn't see the attachments in the really post.

If i edit the post i can delete the attachments but only if i click on the attachment Button.

Changing the theme doesn't take effects.

Changing the TinyMCE Editor to PlainText Editior not either.

I don't know what to do.

Just disregarding the help text and the prompt for a minute - in the forum admin > components > file uploads - is the option to 'Show uploads inserted into post content (applies to images and media) in the attachments section below post content' turned on (green)? And if by chance not - can you turn it on.

OK - so that should not effect anything but it is worth a check.

Next thing to check is in the permissions. Again this should not effect you as a forum admin but let's check it out. Is the permission (under view section) 'Can download other file type attachments' turned on for the users who you wish to have access to the other uploaded files?

And finally... can you give me a link to a specific post I can look at that should show an attachment so I can look at the source code being generated? That is, of course, if non-registered users can and should be able to see the attachments...

It's good news and always nice when things are so easily resolved. But... assuming you are a forum admin then you should have been able to see the attachment box without any permission changes so can you tell me if this was the case as if so I will still need to investigate it as a potential bug.

Having the same problem - found 'Show uploads inserted into post content (applies to images and media) in the attachments section below post content' turned on (green)? That's OK

But can't  find this - Is the permission (under view section) 'Can download other file type attachments' turned on for the users who you wish to have access to the other uploaded files?

If I go to the Permission section I have 4 options

1)Manage Permissions Sets

2)Add New Permission Set

3)Reset Permissions

4)Add New Authorization

Please advise

It is a permission within a permission set. So 'Manage Permission Sets'... select the set(s) you are using and make sure that option is turned on within the sets you want to have the feature enabled.

Thank you Yellow Swordfish - that makes sense now.

Whilst awaiting a reply I thought I'd live dangerously and play around.

Created a Group called Contributor and moved everybody to that (of course changed it in WP as well)

and that worked !
