A problem has developed with my forum's use of gravatar images. Some members images show. Others no longer do. (Mine included.) I got the gravitar plugin hoping it would help, but no luck. I've read some of the other threads but am not sure where my problem lies.
The forum itself is located behind a Wishlist level on http://MaherStudios.com (membership is free.)If you want to see what is happening from the user's standpoint.
If a moderator is willing to take a look into the backend, I can create an account so you can get in.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

what version of simple press are you running? version 5.7.2 was released with a fix for that...

I am running version Version 5.7.3 - I update when new versions are available. I've looked at everything I can think of to get the images working again. The forum is set to look for Gravatar first - yet mine does not show up. Several members have lost theirs - while others still have them. It is strange and has left me totally confused.
I just got one of your newer themes which I plan to install today. Not sure if that would make a difference or not.

Try something for me please. And before that let me say that the Gravatar cache plugin is really worth using as it will speed display up when there are a lot of gravatars - likes posts.
Oh - and also - you didn't actually say what you see instead. Is it the default SP avatars?
So try this if it is please.
Go to your SP profile form from the button up near the login. On the options - load up the Edit Avatar panel. You should see a 'reset avatar' button. Do you? And if so - and you click on it - do you get your Gravatar back.
If no to any of the above the other reason of course, is an inability to connect to gravatar.com. You might want to ask you host of they know of any problem in that regard.

Did as instructed and did not see a 'reset avatar' button. Is there something I need to do to make that available?
I don't believe it is an inability to connect to Gravatar since some members have their Gravatar image working.

Sorry - but I am unsure on one point. You say you 'have' the gravatar cache plugin - does that actually mean you have it activated and working? And while here - are both your SP and plugins all up to date and running the latest versions?

Sorry if I haven't been clear. My SimplePress and the plugins are all the latest versions and have been updated through WordPress Updates. I do have the Gravatar Cache Plugin and it is activated.
For some reason - some of our user's gravatars have stopped loading - including mine. This is strange because other members have had no problem and their gravatars appear as normal.
I've been so confused by this - I am now asking members to upload their own avatars on the site if they wish.

i don't think an account will help at this juncture. I have set up some data to try and replicate or at least to see if I can find any scenario where this might happen. Let me try some testing first.

yeah, this is quite odd... we had a few reports of errors after 5.7.1 and found an issue that had been introduced... everyone of the reported issues was fixed with the 5.7.2 release...
but Andy is off researching...
you asked about the gravatar cache plugin... on the profile - avatars on front end, it should be visible below the gravatar - see image below:

Researching yes. But still totally unable to replicate or find a cause for. I have checked out all of the more recent code changes and they are all working as expected. Add to this that your problem does appear to be isolated - at least we have no other reports of this behaviour - leads me to suspect we have to dig elsewhere in some way.
Are you using JetPack by any chance?
