Help with uploading 4.50 release…

Newbie here… I’m trying to upgrade to v4.5 and since there isn’t an automatic upgrade… I’m lost.

According to the upgrading instructions, I am supposed to “Upload the plugin files to your WordPress installation.” I’ve downloaded the zip file. Then I’ve gone to plugins / Add New / Upload, Browsed for the zip file and then hit “Install Now”.  Is this correct?

 

Am I even close?

 

I receive the following message when trying to upload the SP-450-RELEASE.zip file to the plug-ins.

 

Unpacking the package…

Installing the plugin…

The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.

Plugin install failed.

You need to unzip the plugin files on your local machine which will give you a folder called ‘simple-forum’. and then use an ftp program (please NOT FileZilla) to upload them to the plugins folder on your wordpress site – where there should already be a ‘simple-forum folder of course. In other words this is the same process as was undertaken when it was first installed.

I was able to figure it out.
