That would suggest that the same problem will occur when you use a different browser (if it was a plugin).
Well bear in mind this was just a suggestion. The evidence we have so far suggests third party interference of some kind. My suggestion really was that something may be doing something very explicitly for IE. This is not as far fetched as it sounds because of the very non-standard nature of IE. I have been looking at a users site just earlier today where if IE is detected 4 extra CSS files are loaded and at least one extra javascript file. These are attempts to deal with the various inconsistencies and problems with IE. And work-arounds of this nature can have unexpected consequences.
I will look into it further but in the doc we changed there is a rule that does something with a check and set width and height to "1".
Not in that code there isn't. Sorry. But we don't do that anywhere.
I'm a photographer and not a website builder of any sort. So I do with a bit of common sense and try to solve the problem that way. As said, I looked into the changed .php and that is the only place I can find the width and height being actually set to 1. In all the other plugins .php and css I have not found anything of this sort.
Ah.. are you referring to the statements like $width[1] by any chance? That is array element. $width[1] should actually hold the value of the image width.
As I say - it is just a suggestion and at the moment the only one I have. And if it were this, it would be a javascript file and I did notice several javascript files pertaining to images and/or graphic manipulation of some sort.
I do not haqve access to IE as a Mac user but I will ask Steve to take a look at your site when he gets back from his trip so he can see exactly what is loaded when IE is the agent browser.

Hi Yellow Swordfish (the image looks like a bleu marlin btw ) thanks for your response. It make me look closer to the problem again.
Got a bit more confused, but hopefully closer to the solution.
Okay starting to loose sight of what is going on but I try to explain and hope this is clear to you guys so the solution will be close
First the problem doesn't seem to be in the plupload. Because if I upload with IE it works fine. When I use the View Existing Uploads is when it starts to go wrong with width and height being set to 1 px. But this is a diferent plugin of SP. As far as I understand it now this is Upload Viewer, where nothing can be set for. This is done by the called php or js or whatever else is behind there.
Tried to de-activate several plugins (SP and WP) but didn't resolve the issue.
Now I told the user to try a new upload, because that did work fine on my computer. Unfortunately now she gets a message that there is a system error. I tried the same on an other computer here and I get the message This methode is not supported for this object. Does this have something to do with installing Silverlight I wonder.
Because I get the feeling I'm jumping from one hole into the next I decided to drop a question here again, because I'm looking crosseyed at my computer not knowing where to start first .
If the message started to appear after you installed SilverLight then yes - almost certainly connected - but that is a local issue. Your other user wont be using your copy of SilverLight. And 'System Error' is a bit vague.
SilverLight is only going to be active when uploading and we know uploading isn't an issue.
Tell me more about the Viewer. Are you now saying that the width/problem-with-post-edit-buttoneight are inly set to '1' when using the viewer to add an existing image to a post? And only using IE?

sorry Andy, what do you want me to try?? been gone for few days and digging out from mass of posts and pms...
test on this users site or locally? do we have credentials?
inserting an image with both the file uploader or the uploads viewer works plugins fine on IE - generally speaking... just tried it on a couple of test sites... I dont see any 1px widths...

Still trying to solve the problem. Downloaded Firefox and firebug, last one goes over my head though.
Did some simpe testing. Chrome and Firefox don't have the problem. Only IE. Tried deactivating plugins and another theme. Still same problem.
In IE try to download new image, this is placed correct. Then place the new uploaded image with "View Existing..." plugin, still same result. Image is set to be placed with width/problem-with-post-edit-buttoneight 1px.
Tried everything I could think of to resolve this irritating problem in IE, but am out of things I can think of or do. Suggestions on how to resolve this matter will be appreciated! Placed workaround on forum, but there a people that want just a simple solution with their 'fav' internet program. Can't force everyone to use other program .... So finding the solution would be nice
well, as stated, its not a general problem with IE... works on every site I have tried... which version of IE? remember only IE 8 and 9 are currently supported... and make sure the site is not running in a lower IE mode of emulation/force.
and you didnt answer the question if you have sent us credentials so I can try posting with my IE...
