Hello,

I have performed a test import of a Simple Machine forum version 1 to Simple:Press.

Apparently all forum and topics were imported but not all posts.

This is the importer results page:

Can you help?

Thanks

Regards

The problem is that the failure to ping your mysql database - which may mean the host has turned off the use of these basic mysql functions - has probably stopped them being written to the error log (under forum admin > Toolbox) which means we donlt know what was the problem with the SQL anyway!

Are you able to edit code? If so there are two lines of code referenced ion that error list in 2 code files. If you could edit them and place an at symbol - @ - in front of the function name then that will suppress the error and we may see what is wrong if you then rerun the import...

Unfortunately the database is not in my server so I will forward your reply to another developer and will see what he can do.

Thanks

I haven't checked but you should be able to make those edits using the WP plugin editor...

Hi,

Update:

I have performed the SimpleMachine import again, yesterday I had that issue since I have inserted wrong Database Host, I put the domain name instead of "localhost".

It look like the import went OK but....

At the moment I am not able to access the specific topic page, also I can't see the "Register" button no able to access the profile section. Maybe I have to review the forum setting in backend?

This is the link:

Thanks for your help

Excellent news on the import.

Can you go to the forum admin > Integration > Page and permalink. Make sure the correct WP page is showing at the top (it probably is) but change and update it if not. Then click on the update forum permalink button and try loading some pages. More than one.

If still only loading the front page we will need to look at what other plugins you may have active. Ie., do you have a redirection plugin or the Yoast WP SEO plugin?

On the registration front - have you actually opened up your WP site to accept registrations? - WP admin menu > Settings > General.

Thanks you so much for your help!

I did what you suggested me and yes the "anyone can register" was unchecked I have also did the page and permalinks update and it look like the import went fine.

This was just a test, I will replicate all steps on an client website.

Just in case could you have a look?:

Looks good to me. Hate those colours but hey - that's just personal.
Good to see you have changed to using a better permalink for the urls as well.
Hope the real thing goes well!
